Very very nice surprise, the Château de l’Epinay welcomed us at the very beginning of our road trip in September 2021, just after our day at Futuroscope. Very close to Angers, we had the chance to stay in a real castle: in the heart of a magnificent wooded park, the Château de l’Epinay is a little hidden pearl, which we can only recommend.
The staff was very pleasant and we went to our large room at the end of the corridor, upstairs: the princess was so happy!
As soon as we arrived, we were able to dine on the terrace of the restaurant. L’Orangerie du Château de L’Epinay offers Italian cuisine based on seasonal products and with several vegan options. We were able to enjoy the park as well as the cats of the hotel that we loved. They were so cute!
One of the nights was a little less quiet than the other, as a couple were above our room and moved around a lot until late. Too bad, because it spoiled our stay a bit. Apart from that, which is not the fact of the hotel, we enjoyed our room as much as the outdoor spaces.
I think what we liked best about Château de L’Epinay was the extremely peaceful atmosphere of the hotel and its park. But also the fact that there are so many animals. We gave big hugs to the dogs.
The natural swimming pool is so beautiful, but you have to be brave to enter it, because it is very cool, even under the sun! And if you appreciate being able to take advantage of the fresh air, you will have plenty of time to stroll around the estate: between the vegetable garden, paths leading to the pond… we even picked up hazelnuts.
In winter or if it’s raining, a common room invites you to cocoon in a warm atmosphere, with lots of games for all ages.
Our family experience at Château de l’Epinay
Which room with kids?
Château de l’Epinay has 24 rooms which all have their own personality. We opted for a Suite, because these are very large spaces, between 35 and 50 m2. We had a large room with a fireplace, but also a very nice little room for the princess, who loved having her little window overlooking the park. In addition, with four-poster beds, everything is more wonderful! The large bathroom had a tub and a shower.
All the rooms of the Château being different, you can come back and have the impression of discovering a new place each time!
The princess loved
She LOVED her stay, because everything suited her:
- A princess bedroom for her alone;
- A huge wooded park;
- Lots of different animals;
- A swimming pool (although it was very cold);
- A vegetable garden;
- A nice breakfast buffet…
On the plus side …
What about breakfast?
It’s so rare that we had to mention it: Château de L’Epinay offers a very wide vegan offer for breakfast, and we had homemade vegan banana bread every morning! Everything was delicious, with a big buffet and we couldn’t resist taking advantage of the terrace for breakfast. And since the cats were out, it was even nicer.
You will probably like the wide choice of homemade products offered in the morning.
We’ll be back for?
For sure, we will come back for all the services of this beautiful hotel. There is benevolence, this amazing park and a lot of warmth and comfort in the rooms. And then, it was very easy to eat, which is not always the case for us. We really hope to have the opportunity to go back to the Château de l’Epinay one day.
At the hotel
You cannot be bored while staying at Château de l’Epinay:
- Borrow bicycles to go for a ride on the banks of the Loire river;
- Play a game of tennis or table tennis;
- Play “petanque” outdoors or billiards or indoor games;
- Take advantage of the natural swimming pool and the sun loungers to relax;
- Go for a walk in the park to see the horses or go to the pond, for example.
In terms of well-being, Château de l’Epinay offers yoga classes and has a hammam, a jacuzzi and a fitness room. All are free to access. The Spa treatments are provided in the old bakeries of the Château, for a unique experience.
Close to your hotel
Head to the beautiful city of Angers to visit the magnificent castle and its gardens. If it’s sunny, a walk in the city is also very pleasant, with a detour to the Gallery David d’Angers.
