After a few days at Disneyland Paris, a surprise trip for our daughter, we had one clear craving: not going straight home. Staying in Paris, changing the scenery without changing cities, and letting our daughter stretch out that away-from-home feeling a little longer before real life caught back up. For that, we picked Hôtel 34B Astotel, on rue Bergère in the 9th arrondissement: an ideal base for exploring Paris with kids, and a value-for-money ratio that isn’t a given for a hotel this well located in the capital. The city reveals itself differently this way, at a slower pace, with no theme-park schedule to keep.
What is 34B Astotel?
34B is the newest addition to the Astotel chain, an independent Paris hotel group known for strong concepts and carefully chosen locations. Opened in 2025, it’s a 128-room 3-star hotel in the Grands Boulevards district, between the theatres, the Musée Grévin, and the big Right Bank stores.
Its identity comes down to one word it embraces without irony: Frenchy. Berets hung on the walls, wine bottles as decor, discreet tricolour references, French car miniatures with a collector’s touch. Frenchness is everywhere, without ever weighing the space down.

What strikes you first is the size of the lobby: genuinely large for a Paris 3-star. Generous sofas under a bright glass roof, a 24-hour front desk, a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Since we visited over the year-end holidays, the hall was fully decked out.
Our family stay

Which room did we get?
Since we booked through Staycation, we didn’t have much choice. We got a Privilège room, around 22 square metres, which can take an extra bed. That makes for a fairly tight room for three, but we ended up spending little time in the hotel anyway. Soundproofing was genuinely good for a 3-star, and the room itself was practical, with a complimentary minibar.
For families of four, the Family room (39 sqm, two rooms connected by a private airlock) offers a roomier setup. And for something in between, the Duplex room (36 sqm, one double bed plus two singles) is worth a look.
What makes the difference
The lobby’s open bar, what Astotel calls the ASTOTOUR, runs every day from 2pm to 2am. Hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks, sweet and savoury snacks. It’s included in the room rate, no extra charge. For a family coming back from an afternoon of sightseeing and wanting to catch its breath before dinner, it’s the kind of detail that genuinely changes the quality of a stay.
The in-room minibar is also non-alcoholic, included, and restocked daily. You don’t have to think twice about what you’re drinking, and it changes the whole mindset of the stay.
The double glazing deserves its own mention: we were right in the heart of Grands Boulevards, a few metres from the metro station, and the nights were remarkably quiet.
On the plus side…

What about breakfast?
A generous buffet in the dedicated breakfast room, every morning from 7am to 10:30am on weekdays and until 11am on weekends and public holidays. Pastries, a range of breads, cheeses, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals. Everything was hearty and fresh, with options for intolerances on request. It was included in our Staycation package.
Will we be back?
We probably won’t come back. Not because of a bad experience, but because we’ve got plenty of other Paris addresses left to try.
Activities

At the hotel
The afternoon open bar turns the moment you get back from sightseeing into real downtime for the whole family before dinner. The spacious lobby is a real advantage when travelling with kids: while our daughter settles into the sofas and tries out the digital press on the PressReader app, the adults sort out the practical stuff without being rushed. The hotel also has two meeting rooms for stays that come with a work dimension too.
Nearby
34B is a 3-minute walk from the Musée Grévin, France’s best-known wax museum, with its 200 figures, historical scenes and Palais des Mirages.
Galeries Lafayette is 5 minutes away. The Opéra Garnier, a 10-minute walk. We took the chance to try Terre-Terre restaurant while we were there.

Hôtel 34B: FAQ

Is 34B a good fit for families with children?
It’s one of the hotel’s clearest strengths. The Triple room (25 sqm, one double bed plus one single, 2 bathrooms) was designed for families of three. The Family room (39 sqm, two rooms connected by a private airlock) works for up to 4 people, and the Family Superior (40 sqm) for up to 5. The relaxed atmosphere, spacious lobby and included open bar make family downtime simple and pleasant. Being 3 minutes from the Musée Grévin on foot is an extra point in its favour for families visiting Paris.
Is the open bar really included in the room rate?
Yes. The lobby’s open bar (hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks, sweet and savoury snacks) runs every day from 2pm to 2am, included in the stay with no extra charge. The in-room minibar is also free and restocked daily. Astotel groups all of this under the ASTOTOUR label.
Is there a wellness area at 34B?
Yes, on the lower level (level -1): a fully equipped gym and a sauna, open from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week. Access is included in the stay. There’s no pool, but for a Paris 3-star, free access to a sauna is a genuine point of difference.
Where exactly is Hôtel 34B?
At 34 rue Bergère, Paris 9th, in the Grands Boulevards district. Grands Boulevards metro station (lines 8 and 9) is a 2-minute walk away. Bonne Nouvelle (also lines 8 and 9) is 3 minutes. Musée Grévin is a 3-minute walk. Galeries Lafayette, 5 minutes. Opéra Garnier, 10 minutes. Gare du Nord, about 10 minutes by metro.
Is breakfast included?
No, it’s an extra: €14 per person at the standard rate, €10 per person if you book a room with the “breakfast included” option. Buffet served in the dining room from 7am to 10:30am on weekdays and 7am to 11am on weekends and public holidays. For an early departure before 7am, a “Breakfast Box” can be prepared the night before on request.
Can you access the gym and sauna at other Astotel hotels?
34B’s gym is included for guests staying at that hotel. The perks of the ASTOTOUR programme (the open bar) are available across all Astotel properties. The spa and pool at the Astra Opéra, which also belongs to the group, are reserved for guests staying there specifically.
