Passionate about cooking, travels and nature, Chantal Descazeaux is well known for her website, Assiettes gourmandes, about starred restaurants and beautiful places in France and abroad. She agreed to answer our questions.
Hello Chantal, your last family trip, when and where was it?
I travel a lot, but now my daughters are grown ups, they left the family nest a few years ago and now, we mostly travel just the two of us. Our last discovery trip together, the five of us, was in 2012, and it was to Thailand, a country I love.
Last year, we spent a week together (the six of us now ^^), and as it was for the pleasure of being together, we chose an all inclusive stay in the Dominican Republic.
At home, is travel more like Club Med, rural accommodation, motorhome or palace?
Most of the time, we try to combine discovery and idleness … But everything is possible, from the simple little bungalow on a lost island, to Club Med for its activities, or a motorhome in Australia …. or a little stay in a luxury hotel because, of course, it is still very pleasant. ;)
What is your best memory during a family trip?
The Maldives with my daughters who swam with turtles … magic!
And during your weekends, what are your favorite activities with children?
Walks with my Golden Retriever, cooking, cocooning, … and now yoga, which I discovered quite recently.
Any advice for a serene trip with kids?
Organization … and tolerance!
A destination that you would like to discover together?
Now it has become complicated to travel all together, we will improvise ;)
If you had to describe your typical vacation in one word, what would it be?
Change of scenery
And what will be your next trip?
Nepal … at the end of the month!
