In July 2026, we headed to Montmartre for a romantic getaway built around an A Perfect Circle concert at Le Zénith. We checked into the Mom’Art Hotel Paris, just steps from the Sacré-Cœur. A 25-room boutique hotel tucked at 42 Rue d’Orsel, between the Basilica and the Abbesses, it was the obvious choice. It’s hard to find anywhere closer to the neighbourhood without losing the charm of an actual village house.
Mom’Art was designed as a house surrounded by artists, a deliberate tribute to Poulbot and his “Mômes” (kids) as much as to the figures who shaped Montmartre: Suzanne Valadon, Utrillo, and the wider bohemian scene of the early 20th century.
Architect Jacques Mechali reworked the building’s volumes, while interior designer Olfa Ghemidh dressed the five room concepts in Hermès fabrics and leathers and ARTE wall coverings, with a distinctly Art Deco feel. The result feels more like a Parisian apartment than a standardised hotel lobby.

Which room did we get?
We stayed in Room 1, on the ground floor. The decor is unapologetically intimate, almost cocoon-like, and the bathroom is far bigger than we expected in a boutique hotel this size. No view to speak of, but for two nights split between a concert and wandering the neighbourhood, we appreciated the privacy.
What makes the difference
What strikes you first is the human scale of the place. The owner knows her guests, literally: she bends over backwards to make sure everyone leaves wanting to come back, a bit like staying with friends. Regulars sometimes travel a long way to return, year after year. That kind of loyalty isn’t manufactured.
On the plus side…
What about breakfast?
The breakfast buffet is generous, and the pastries are homemade (and delicious), which isn’t a given at hotels in this category. We had it in the bright, quiet patio, away from the buzz of Rue des Abbesses. There’s a good mix of sweet and savoury options.
Will we be back?
Mom’Art has the rare advantage of sitting right in the heart of Montmartre without the tourist chaos. But it’s really Brigitte, the owner, whose warmth and genuine care make the difference, for regulars and first-time guests like us alike.

The Bar de l’Artiste offers a selection of wines, cocktails and spirits, best enjoyed in the patio or at the counter. For downtime, a small gym (treadmill, elliptical bike, weight bench) is open from 7am to 10pm, along with a sauna available from 8am to 10pm.
Nearby
The Sacré-Cœur is a few minutes’ walk away, as are the Musée de Montmartre, the Bateau-Lavoir (visits by reservation only) and the Halle Saint-Pierre. For a more offbeat evening, the Madame Arthur cabaret on Rue des Martyrs or the legendary Lapin Agile are worth the detour.
