Because it was impossible to go through Brittany without admiring the famous and magnificent Côte de granit rose, we stopped at Trébeurden. On the coast, this city is absolutely magnificent, because it has many very beautiful beaches, as close as possible to nature. And to enjoy it even more, we decided to stay at Le Manoir de Lan Kerellec, a four-star Relais & Châteaux.
As soon as we arrived, we had a good and several bad surprises. The good news, we had chosen a room with a view and indeed, the view of the Atlantic is splendid, with a nice terrace to admire the sunset. The bad: we discovered a room that had remained in its own state for way too long, with a bathroom to match, and a good layer of dust on the model boat! Another problem, no air conditioning… And the curtains had not been lowered… For a very sunny month of September, perhaps the staff at Manoir de Lan Kerellec could have anticipated! It was unbearably hot inside!

We weren’t able to try the restaurant during our stay because it was closed, which only increased our frustration, especially since honestly, breakfast was very simple, especially for a Relais & Châteaux.
Also, during our short stay, there was an attempted break-in and there was no one at the reception of Manoir Lan Kerellec during the night… very reassuring!
Our family experience at Manoir de Lan Kerellec

Which room with kids?
We had booked a Deluxe room, which had a terrace and a magnificent view of the Atlantic ocean. However, Manoir de Lan Kerellec also has a Family Suite. It includes a double bedroom for parents with terrace and sea view and a child’s bedroom with two beds.
With only one child, the Deluxe room is sufficient, with an extra bed.
The princess loved
Apart from the view on the terrace and the sunset, not much. She found that the decoration of the hotel room was quite “old-fashioned” and her bed under the attic was clearly a bit cramped. And beyond that, we were way too hot.
On the plus side …

What about breakfast?
A bit like everything during our stay, the breakfast at Manoir de Lan Kerellec was not wonderful. Barely anyone to welcome us, service not really smiling and fairly limited proposals for a hotel that charges so much.
There’s a table that has a partially blocked view with “not-so-transparent” glass. In short, once again, one has the impression of being in a hotel that has not been renovated for decades.
We’ll be back for?
We won’t be back in these conditions, that’s for sure. The one and only positive point of this hotel remains the view from certain rooms, but clearly, other hotels on the Brittany coast offer an exceptional view.
Activities

At the hotel
There is not much at Manoir de Lan Kerellec. You have access to tennis courts and a beach cabin can be made available to you. If you want a spa treatment, someone from outside comes to the hotel to provide it.
Close to your hotel
Fortunately, there is the magnificent town of Trébeurden and its incredible beaches. We loved walking along the waterfront while enjoying the sunset. It was a magical moment.
