In 2017, we spent a few days in the Loire Valley region. It was an opportunity to discover Chambord, Chenonceau, but also to spend some time the park of the Château de Cheverny. It had changed a lot since my last visit as a child and we took the opportunity to have a picnic, despite a very gloomy weather.
Well, I might as well say it right away, there is one thing that I fundamentally hate with Cheverny, it is the enclosure of these poor hunting dogs. It literally breaks my heart to see them locked in their cage, by the dozen, obviously hungry and half-crazy to be confined all together almost permanently. I hate hunting and I really think this should have been banned a long time ago.

We did not visit the castle, because the princess was still a little young to be interested in it and we had already visited Chambord and Chenonceau. I think it was quite enough for her. :D We chose to walk through the park which had been extended and redone. The prettiest corner is probably the picnic area near the stream with the swans.
Good to know

A must do
We advise you to take a picnic to enjoy the outdoor spaces of Cheverny.
The princess loved
She really liked the small island with the very beautiful sculptures (and we did too).
The ups for kids

Your kids are over 8 years old
We recommend a visit to the castle, but above all to the permanent exhibition dedicated to Tintin, “The secrets of Moulinsart”. Very interactive, it is really well done and will appeal to children much more than the rest of the castle.
Your kids are less than 8 years old
Let them stroll in the park, discovering the statues and the magnificent tulips when it’s springtime. Visiting the castle is likely to quickly bore them, so opt for the huge park.
