Luna is one of those Bordeaux restaurants you almost want to keep to yourself. Located on Rue Albert Pitres in the lively Chartrons district, this bistronomic restaurant is led by chef Olivier Peyronnet and his business partner Kim Buyse. Since taking over the restaurant at the end of 2024, the duo has already earned recognition from the Michelin Guide.

What truly sets Luna apart, however, is its ability to deliver a sophisticated vegetarian tasting experience, complemented by carefully crafted non-alcoholic drink pairings. For anyone looking for one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Bordeaux, Luna is well worth the trip.

We’ve booked a table more than once. Here’s why we keep coming back.

A Charming Address in Bordeaux’s Chartrons District

Chartrons is one of those Bordeaux neighborhoods that doesn’t need to prove anything. Its quiet streets, independent shops and relaxed atmosphere make it one of the city’s most enjoyable areas to explore.

Tucked away on Rue Albert Pitres, Luna feels like a genuine local discovery rather than a restaurant designed to attract passing crowds.

Inside, the dining room is bright, understated and elegant. The décor never competes with the food, allowing every detail to focus on what matters most: exceptional cooking, genuine hospitality and meaningful conversation.

Its intimate size, combined with impeccable yet relaxed service, creates the kind of warm atmosphere where you immediately feel at home.

The Princess Loved It

As a passionate foodie who never misses an opportunity to discover outstanding restaurants, she immediately fell in love with Luna’s approach to vegetables.

Every dish showcases creativity, generosity and genuine craftsmanship. The non-alcoholic beverage pairing was one of the biggest surprises of the evening, proving that a memorable tasting menu doesn’t require wine.

Whenever we mention that we’re going back to Luna, she can’t stop smiling.

Her personal favourites? The perfectly cooked egg starter and desserts that easily rank among her all-time top five.

Our Review

Nothing happening in Luna’s kitchen is accidental.

Olivier Peyronnet and Kim Buyse first met while working together in Luxembourg at a two-Michelin-starred restaurant ranked among the world’s top 250 dining destinations. They developed both a friendship and a shared culinary vision before building successful careers in Bordeaux, notably at Quanjude and later at Mondrian, two restaurants recognised for their demanding standards.

Drawing on that experience, they took over Luna at the end of 2024 and transformed it into a restaurant that perfectly reflects their philosophy.

That expertise is immediately apparent.

At Luna, vegetarian cuisine is never treated as an alternative or an afterthought. Seasonal vegetables receive the same technical precision, creativity and attention as every other dish on the menu. Sauces are beautifully balanced, textures are carefully considered and every plate feels complete.

Kim Buyse oversees the pastry programme with desserts that are both refined and genuinely indulgent, providing a consistently memorable finish to every meal we’ve enjoyed there.

Most importantly, you never feel like you’re missing anything because there’s no meat or fish. Every course is satisfying, balanced and thoughtfully constructed.

A special mention also goes to Vincent, whose exceptional front-of-house service makes every visit even more enjoyable. His warmth, professionalism and attention to detail ensure that both locals and international visitors experience Luna at its very best.
