It was one of our first discoveries when we arrived in Barcelona. Before our first restaurants such as Rasoterra or Xavier Pellicer, we took a lunch/snack break at Matcha Gracias. This cafe is entirely dedicated to matcha and it’s very popular. Depending on when you go there, you may find a very busy place.
The staff is very nice and there are lots of vegan options: we actually ordered quite a lot of things, maybe too many to be able to finish our tray.
The atmosphere is rather kawaii and the colorful neon lights will immediately put you at ease. It’s a matcha bar with small white tables, a relaxed atmosphere and rather young customers. People go there to drink a matcha latte, eat a vegan cake and we appreciate the choice offered by Matcha Gracias, including savory.

We really enjoyed …

The princess loved
Undoubtedly the iced matcha, because she drank almost the whole glass even if it was for dad! She also enjoyed her matcha ice cream which looked very good.
Her parents liked
We really enjoyed what we drank and ate at Matcha Gracias even though we’re not big fans of the place itself. Maybe because it was too hot there, but we find it a bit impersonal, not cozy enough for our taste. It lacks small benches and more comfortable seats and the terrace overlooks a very busy street.
Despite that, we’re happy to have tried it, because it’s the first time we’ve had the opportunity to eat so many different matcha-based vegan pastries: there’s a tiramisu, a club sandwich, a bounty, a brownie , ice cream, donuts… and much more. In short, if you are a matcha fan, you will be in heaven!
